Denim 101 for Spring ‘13

post Image

At the start of a season, new jeans should top the list of must-haves. Whether you are looking for an updated shape, wash, color or length, there are many options that will bring freshness to your wardrobe. But beware; there are a number of trends and styles- some you need in your closet, while others you should steer clear of.

Here are the ones you should have-

The Slouchy Skinny –  A comfortable, relaxed alternative to the true skinny.

The High Waist- Don’t be afraid, these aren’t “mom jeans.”  High Waisted jeans are elongating and flattering when styled with a simple tucked in top.

White Denim –  They are worth the investment as white is your go-to for late spring and summer.

Contrasting Stitching -   Incorporate color blocking in a subtle tonal combination. Its a great way to allow your jeans to become more of a statement.

Metallic – Keep it subtle and neutral for a little glam day or night.

Don’t underestimate the versatility and fashion quotient of the denim shirt. My favorites are…

There are many more trends out there this season. But don’t get sold. Steer clear of super shiny metallic, oversize floral prints, flares and overly deconstructed.  They’re either too trendy or they’re last year’s hot sellers re-interpreted (never new enough).

Make the purchase worth your hard earned dollar, and get ready for spring.
