Making Resolutions Work

post Image

If you are like most people, you get that sudden burst of motivation in January when the holidays finally wind down and the dawn of a New year is upon us.  You undoubtedly set some resolutions, or goals as they may be, to work towards in your personal and professional life. But sadly, resolutions are notoriously short-lived, if not completely forgotten in a matter of months. I am no expert by any means, but I do have some advice for making resolutions work.

  • Keep them simple and realistic. No matter how simple or easy they may seem, they’re still goals. And How good will it feel to actually stay  on track and accomplish them?
  •  Write them down and share them with someone. If you keep them to yourself, it’s too easy to lose focus and forget about them.  If you share them with someone, they can help remind you and hold you accountable.
  • Keep track of your progress. Map out mini – goals  with a timeline that will slowly but surely take you where you want to be.Make each step a TODO that you can feel good about crossing off and completing. Put a note in your calendar now to check in with the “one and only” on April 1st…. you’re the only one you will be fooling if you’re not on track. Quarterly check-ins aresure to keep you honest and moving forward.

Happy New Year!
